You arrive by a short drive up into the green ridge above Montego Bay, the city shrinking below as the air cools and bird song sharpens. Under a wooden gazebo your guide seats you with a small bottle of sugar solution and shows you how to hold your finger steady; seconds later a hummingbird darts in, claws gripping your skin, wings a blur as it drinks.
