Every tour starts with a 30-minute drive out of Denver and towards the Rocky Mountains. You can choose to start at either Red Rocks or in Golden – both are equidistant from Denver and a great way to start your tour. Along the drive, you’ll get to know your guide and hear some history about Denver and the surrounding area. This tour celebrates the beauty of the Colorado landscape and the historical characters that helped define our place in the “Wild West”.
Our Half-Day tour option is designed to highlight the best of Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre and the nearby town of Golden. Get to know the unique story behind the construction of this outdoor concert venue. Having had an amazing lineup of performers over its tenure (including The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, and John Denver), you will be able to learn about several of the most famous concerts and performers to grace its stage.
A walk through the surrounding area provides you with a great opportunity to get an understanding of the geological heritage of the region, with rocks dating as far back as 300 million years ago!
In the nearby town of Golden, you’ll enjoy strolling around this historic town that once rivaled Denver for the title of capital city. Depending on timing, you may have the opportunity to grab a cup of coffee or a snack at a local cafe.
A full-day tour (7-10 hours) offers the chance to enjoy plenty of time at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre and the town of Golden as well as a visit to the final resting place of Buffalo Bill Cody, known to be one of the West’s most iconic and controversial characters.
If you’re up for more adventure, let your guide show you the best nearby hiking trails for unforgettable views, fascinating ecology, and excellent wildlife spotting locations. Dinosaur fans will love seeing the footprints and touchable evidence of prehistoric creatures, while railroad aficionados can enjoy some time at Colorado’s preeminent railroad museum.
While exploring Golden, you’ll have a chance to have a meal at a local restaurant (probably lunch), or maybe even have a “Taste of the Rockies” at the Coors Brewery or another fantastic craft brewery.
