The Jeep crunches over coral-pink dunes and then the Earth narrows: vermilion walls rise like pages closing around you, light filigree cutting the sandstone into fins and windows. A high-clearance Rubicon negotiates the last washboard road, and the guide points the way into a slot where echoes and sunbeams trade places.

The Kanab region contains sites used by Southern Paiute and earlier Ancestral Puebloan peoples; many canyons preserve petroglyphs, moki steps and other traces of longtime human presence.
These slot canyon environments are ecologically fragile—avoid stepping on cryptobiotic soil, pack out all waste, and follow your guide to minimize cultural and geological impact.
