SUP 101

We’ll cover paddleboarding basics, water safety, equipment, and must-know terminology. You’ll learn how to paddle efficiently, navigate various water conditions, and find your balance whether you prefer kneeling, sitting, or standing tall.

Doggy Onboarding

Not sure if your pup will stay put? We’ve got you covered. Learn gentle, positive techniques to introduce your dog to the board, help them feel stable and calm, and gradually get them comfortable as your co-captain.

Leash Laws and Pet Safety

We’ll go over boating regulations, leash options, and safety best practices—so you can explore worry-free and stay on the right side of the law.

Custom Tailored Experience

Location

SUP Pups is located in Liberty Station, Point Loma in beautiful San Diego behind the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. We are partnered with West Coast Paddle Sports that provides the paddle board rentals. Together we paddle down a very calm channel way that leads into a dead end where a private military dock is. The waterway is a no-wake zone for boaters and barely has boat traffic. We depart from a sandy beach but please be careful of the surrounding rocks and sharp oyster shells.

Who can come??

The paddle board experience can be solo with your pup, your other human, friends, or family. We make our lessons "Private" so you get our ultimate attention out on the water.

We allow EVERY Dog to come. We do not discriminate against leash-aggression, dog-aggression, human-aggression, sassy mc. sass. Please book for Owner Samantha if your pup is one of these or other and state in notes on reservation.

For the humans, it doesn't matter if you have never paddle boarded before, we LOVE when it is you and your pups first experience together.

Don't know how to swim? No problem! We will suit you up with a life jacket and you will wear a SUP leash around your ankle that will be attached to the board.

What's Included:

ACTION PHOTOS & VIDEOS

Your Instructor will take them of you and your dog(s) from an iPhone while out on the water and after the lesson will airdrop directly or sent end day in link for android.

Paddle Board Rental

You can bring your own if you want, but we suggest learning on our very stable, fully decked hard boards first. If brining your own please enter BYOB : 20% off

Human PFD

We provide you with a US Coast Guard approved PFD that will wrap around your waist or you can wear one for more confidence.

A full chest PFD will be provided if you do not know how to swim.

Dog Life Jacket

SUP Pups branded our own life jackets! We supply you with a fitted life jacket for your dog. Even if your dog knows how to swim, it is smart to have one on them to help pull them back up onto the board safely. Please feel free to bring your own if you like!

Dog Treats and Treat Pouch

Please feel free to bring treats for your dog if you think that will help them or to have for a reward. If you forget to bring them your Instructor can provide you with some.

Flat Dog Leash

So you don't have to get yours dirty or if you do not have a flat leash, your SUP Pups Instructor will provide you with one.
