Wear solid walking shoesCobblestones and narrow lanes mean flat, grippy footwear will keep you comfortable all day.

Bring small cashSome independent cafés and market stalls prefer cash for quick purchases and tips.

Check college opening timesNot all college interiors allow visitors at all times—confirm ahead if you want inside access.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Provides support on cobbles, steps and uneven surfaces around colleges.
Light waterproof jacket: Spring showers are common; a packable jacket keeps you dry without bulk.
