A wind-browned horizon opens as the 4x4 climbs out of the monotone plains and into the Negev’s rough geometry. Morning tea steams in paper cups while the SUV hums over washboard tracks; the desert seems to watch you, wind nudging sand into cairns and gullies. By midmorning the stones thin into the low ruins of Mamshit, where Nabataean walls keep an old story quiet beneath the sun.

The tour runs about 11 hours with pickup from Jerusalem around 8:00 AM, arrival in the Negev mid-morning, guided visits to Mamshit, extensive off-roading in Makhtesh Ramon, and return to Jerusalem in the early evening.
Children aged 6 and older can join; the tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with serious heart conditions due to rough terrain and long day.
Light breakfast, morning tea/coffee, snacks on board and a late sandwich lunch are included; you can upgrade to a traditional Bedouin feast for an additional cost.
A short camel ride is offered at Mamshit for an additional fee and is subject to availability at the site.
Mamshit was a fortified Nabataean caravan town on ancient incense routes; Makhtesh Ramon exposes sedimentary layers that record the region’s long geological evolution.
The Negev’s soils and rare plants are fragile—stay on vehicle tracks and follow guide instructions to minimize erosion and disturbance to Bedouin grazing areas.
