Recommended gear

Waterproof hiking shoes: Provide traction on wet boardwalks and muddy trail sections common in the redwood understory.
Light waterproof jacket: Coastal fog and drizzle can make conditions cool and damp, even in summer mornings.
Reusable water bottle: Staying hydrated is important; refill points are limited once inside the monument.
Compact binoculars or telephoto lens: Helps spot birds and small mammals in the canopy and along creek edges.
