History

Florence’s leather and textile guilds date back to the Middle Ages; modern outlets like The Mall grew from this artisanal legacy, concentrating luxury brands outside the city centre.

Reserve a Time SlotBook a morning pickup to beat crowds and have first access to newly stocked items.

Bring ID for VAT RefundsCarry your passport and a credit card to complete tax-free export paperwork if you live outside the EU.

Pack a Rolling BagUse a wheeled tote for heavy purchases—many boutiques can help ship large items but it’s quicker to tote what you’ll take home.

Confirm Pickup DetailsDouble-check your hotel pickup point and return window to avoid missed transfers in Florence traffic.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Shops and walkways are paved but you’ll be on your feet for stretches of time.
Passport or ID: Needed for VAT refund paperwork and some store returns.
Collapsible shopping bag or rolling tote: Makes carrying multiple designer purchases easier and protects items in transit.
Light layers: Boutiques are well heated/cooled; layers keep you comfortable when moving between vehicle and stores.
