Experience Maine aboard a beautiful 40' sailboat and get a private tour of the restored Wood Island Lighthouse and Keepers House! Delight in the stories your captain and crew will share of the 8 fascinating islands of Saco Bay, the rich history of the Saco River and see the longest beach in Maine from the water. Disembark on Wood Island and travel the ½ mile wooden boardwalk from the boathouse to the lighthouse, as a lighthouse keeper would have done.
A tour guide from Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse (FOWIL) will lead your way on Wood Island and take you inside this spectacular Light Station. Ascend the 60 circular stairs of the lighthouse tower to the lantern room with its fabulous panoramic view. On a clear day you will see the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Explore the two story restored Light Keepers House with all its treasures and carefully researched period details.
A portion of the price includes a donation to FOWIL, the non-profit responsible for the upkeep of this amazing Light Station.

Most of the season 2 sailboats will be available with a capacity of 6 each. Parties more than 6 will need to make 2 bookings.
All ages are welcome! Children must be at least 10 years old to go up the lighthouse tower.
Guests must have the mobility to get in and out of a dingy from the back of the boat and walk the ½ mile walkway on Wood Island. No prior sailing experience is necessary. Each person must comply with the FOWIL's on‐island Rules and General Release. Both documents are posted on our FAQ webpage. On Wood Island bare feet, flip-flops or clogs are NOT allowed.
There are 65 lighthouses in Maine with only 4 of them that are on an island as well as restored and offers tours. We believe you’ll agree with us that this one is the best! Soak in wonders of the ocean, sea life and sun in an endless expanse of horizon. Our boats keep each charter intimate at no more than 6 per boat. Take your turn at sailing the boat if you wish. Most importantly please come away, have fun and rest awhile with your beloved, friends and family. Create memories that will last a life time!
Pricing does not include gratuity. Gratuity is optional and is similar to tipping in other service industries such as in a restaurant or spa. Gratuity can be added to a credit card, VENMO or cash. The crew appreciates any gratuity you elect to provide.
