On arrival the farm feels removed from the city despite being about 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavík — horses breathe steam into the cool air and the slope of Úlfarsfell watches over the valley. The ride starts with a short tack-up and an introduction to the Icelandic horse: a compact, sure-footed breed with a long mane and a calm temperament. Guides tailor pace and route to suit beginners or experienced riders; you’ll move from a steady walk to measured trots across mossy lava fields and gentle hills.
