The catamaran slips away from Palapa Bar as the town shrinks into a string of palms and tin roofs. Salt air fills the deck; music and conversation blend with the ocean’s low pulse. Thirty minutes out, the reef appears as a darker ribbon on the horizon — Hol Chan’s channel, a corridor where currents ferry life between open sea and lagoon. When you slip into the water here, the reef seems to move toward you: corals sway, parrotfish nibble, and an inquisitive sea turtle eases past as the guide points the way.
