A cool wind meets the group as the van climbs the road toward El Boquerón’s rim; the crater opens like a low bowl of shadow and scrub, and the city drops away to the south. From the rim, the crater’s sheer walls and a smaller inner cone—Boqueroncito—read like pages in the region’s geological record, while hydrangeas and begonias edge the trails.
