The morning van peels away from Abu Dhabi's skyline and, an hour later, Dubai unfurls — a jumble of chrome towers, narrow creek alleys and marketplaces that hum like a hive. You step into the Gold Souk and the light seems captured in the rows of cases; the Spice Souk exhales cumin and cardamom that tug at memory. Dragon Mart stretches like a shopping metropolis of its own, while Karama and Meena Bazaar weave stalls, textiles and bargain shouts into tight lanes.
easy.
6–7 hours.
Light walking and standing—suitable for most fitness levels but expect uneven alleys and long periods on your feet.
Travel time is typically around 1.5 to 2 hours each way depending on traffic; the full tour runs about 6–7 hours including market time.
Some shops accept cards, especially in larger stores, but many smaller stalls prefer cash—carry small-denomination dirhams for bargaining.
Yes—haggling is common at Karama, Meena Bazaar and many souk stalls; start well below the asking price and be polite but firm.
Guides can advise on shipping options and reputable vendors, but buyers are responsible for arranging shipping or airline-compliant packing for large items.
Dubai’s markets trace back to its pearling and dhow trading past along Dubai Creek; many souks occupy the same commercial corridors that served traders for centuries.
Markets generate waste and plastic use; prefer reusable bags, buy from vendors using minimal packaging, and support shops with ethical sourcing practices.
