As the sun slips low over the Riyadh plain, the pale mud walls of At-Turaif catch a warm, earthen light and the old city seems to stand up and breathe. Guests arrive in a Mercedes van, stepping from air-conditioned comfort into narrow alleys where history leans close—palaces, courtyards and restored crenellations that once shaped the political life of the Arabian interior.
