You leave Bucharest before dawn and the city’s concrete gives way to fields; the road pushes toward the foothills where Făgăraș and Lotru flank the horizon like slow-moving sentries. By midmorning you step onto Sibiu’s cobbles — a compact medieval network of squares, the Bridge of Lies arching like a punctuation mark between Old Town alleys and the hum of local markets.
moderate.
12–14 hours.
Suitable for travelers in regular fitness who can handle all-day walking and stair climbs.
Pickup is arranged in Bucharest at your selected address; the tour typically returns to the original pickup point in the evening.
Some stops list admission included in the itinerary—confirm specifics at booking since private itineraries can be adjusted.
The tour is physically easy overall but includes long walking periods and steep stairs (e.g., cathedral tower), so it may be challenging for those with limited mobility; infant seats are available.
Meals are usually not included—your guide can recommend or stop at local restaurants and cafés and accommodate dietary needs if informed in advance.
Sibiu grew from a 12th-century Transylvanian Saxon settlement into a fortified trade center; nearby Cozia Monastery dates to 1388 and was founded by Wallachian ruler Mircea the Elder.
Respect monastery rules and limit waste in historic sites; choose local guides and eateries to support community-based tourism and reduce impact.
