The morning light hits the outer cages and the air smells faintly of pond water and hay as your private car eases into Jawalakhel’s gate. Paths curve between enclosures, and the guide’s voice draws attention to the carved wooden plaques that give each animal a short biography — small, clear lessons in species and behavior. For three hours you move at a calm pace from gharials and waterfowl to the aquarium and the big-cat enclosures.
