Did you know that Giethoorn has no roads? Its inhabitants travel by boat through the canals, so this Dutch town is also known as the "Green Venice". Leaving from Amsterdam, we will cross the province of Flevoland and the Weerriben - Wieden National Park until we reach Giethoorn.
There we will enjoy a 1-hour boat ride to contemplate the beauty and magic of the place, the old thatched farms and wooden bridges. We will also have free time to take pictures, stroll quietly and fill your stomach in one of its excellent restaurants (lunch is not included).
On the way to Enkhuizen we will stop at the port of Lelystad to see the replica of the "Batavia" (17th century galleon of the Dutch East India Company) and the famous statue "Exposure" by Antony Gormley.
We will cross from Flevoland to North Holland through the "Houtribdijk", a dam that connects both provinces and divides the Ijsselmeer and Markermeer lakes. Finally, we will visit Enkhuizen, an important city in the Dutch Golden Age and where time seems to have stopped. Its canals, bridges, historic buildings and port make it one of the most beautiful towns in the Netherlands.
