The trimaran slips away from the lagoon with the Simpson Bay bridge shrinking behind you, sails swelling and the Atlantic light flattening into a band of blue. Sea spray cools the back of your neck as the hull hums forward; the wind and water set the pace while the captain tacks along the island’s southwest flank. You pass low, rugged promontories, the airport runway looming as an exclamation over the water, then ease into a sheltered French-side bay for snorkeling and a swim.
