Adventure tips

Morning departures for calmer seasLeave early to avoid stronger afternoon winds and busy harbors; morning light also makes the grottos and cliffs more photogenic.

Blue Grotto is optional and paid locallyIf you want to go inside the Blue Grotto, bring cash for the small wooden boat transfer and entrance fee (approx €14); entry depends on sea conditions.

Bring non-slip shoesGangways and wet decks can be slippery — boat shoes or rubber-soled sneakers improve safety during boarding and disembarking.

Carry ID and a photocopy of your passportA valid passport is required on the day of travel and a photocopy helps speed boarding and transfers.

Recommended gear

Sunscreen (SPF 30+): Protects against strong Mediterranean sun while on deck and during time on the island.
Non-slip boat shoes: Improves grip on wet decks and simplifies boarding from small boats.
Light windproof layer: Shields you from spray and cooler breezes, especially in the morning or late afternoon.
Waterproof phone case or dry bag: Keeps electronics and documents safe from spray and accidental splashes.
