Geology explains the show — Capri’s karst limestone is perforated with caves and grottoes; when sunlight filters through submerged entrances it paints chambers green or electric blue, the Blue Grotto being the most famous. History arrives in the form of Roman villas and the Baths of Queen Joanna, a coastal pool fed by natural springs and layered in centuries of human use. Culturally, Capri blends upscale cafés and fisherman traditions; a chef-accessible restaurant reached only by boat gives a genuine connection between sea and table.
Practical guidance: the tour runs about 7 hours, includes skipper, fuel, soft drinks, snorkel masks and a prosecco toast (18+). Expect multiple short stops — Blue and White Grotto visits are weather- and tide-dependent and may require waiting. There’s an optional private-dock disembarkation with a meaningful landing fee (~€100) or a workaround: pre-book a boat-access restaurant to avoid the fee and get three hours ashore. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, non-slip deck shoes, a waterproof bag, sea-sickness remedies and cash for marina or restaurant charges. Aim for early departure to avoid midday crowds and to catch the grotto light at its best.

Suitable for most fitness levels; expect short swims, boarding from low docks and occasional ladder access when entering small boats
No — access depends on tide, wind and the operator's safety assessment; visiting the Blue Grotto can require waiting or may be substituted with other grottoes or swim stops.
Yes — there are two options: pay an optional private-dock landing fee (approx. €100) or pre-book a restaurant that admits guests only by boat to avoid the fee and enjoy roughly three hours ashore.
Yes; infants may ride in strollers and must sit on laps. Operators typically consider the trip physically easy but parental supervision is required on deck and during water activities.
Snacks, soft drinks, snorkel masks and one prosecco (for guests over 18) are included; full meals at restaurants are extra and should be reserved in advance.
Capri has attracted visitors since Roman times when emperors built villas along its sheltered coves; many coastal features today reflect millennia of geological and human activity.
Capri lies near marine-protected areas with sensitive seagrass beds (Posidonia); avoid anchoring on meadows, pack out waste and use reef-safe products to reduce impact.
