About

This tour offers you the chance to visit Blenheim Palace, home to the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Including a pick-up and return to your accommodation in London, this trip offers you the chance to explore this stunning stately home, without having to worry about travel. By visiting with one of our guides, who are passionate Churchillians you also have the chance to discuss the greatest Briton who ever lived, including his victories, miseries, and controversies, and discuss the current reassessment of Sir Winston by historians across the globe.

In addition to discovering more about one of Britain’s most influential prime ministers, you will be able to learn about Sir Winston’s family, including his ancestor John Churchill. One of the leading military figures of the 17th and 18th Centuries, it was John who secured Britain’s place as a global leader well into the 20th century and founded one of the most important political dynasties of modern times.

We will visit

  • Blenheim Palace was built for John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough, by a grateful nation. This outstanding stately home is one of the largest in the UK and is considered of such importance that it was created a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Famous for being the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, who was the grandson of the 7th Duke, Blenheim is the perfect place to visit if you are a lover of Churchill as not only was Winston born here, but the Dukes played a major part in Churchill’s political career and personal life. Upon arrival at Blenheim, you will be guided around the palace by your guide who will help you with the palace’s excellent audio guide and fill in extra information that isn’t part of the audio tour. You will be able to experience both of the Churchill Tours at Blenheim and both the ‘Upstairs’ and ‘Downstairs’ Tours which will give you a better understanding of this amazing home. Finally, you will be able to wander the stunning grounds at your leisure.

  • The Parish Church of Saint Martin Bladon This small local church is where Sir Winston Churchill was buried. Normally a figure of such national and historical importance would have been buried in one of the great national monuments such as Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s Cathedral. Churchill, however, wanted to be buried with the rest of his family at Bladon. It is here you can see the graves of Sir Winston and his wife Lady Churchill and pay your respects to one of the giants of history. You will also have time to explore the stunning stained glass window that was commissioned as a memorial to Sir Winston on the 50th anniversary of his death before travelling back to London where you guide will drop you off at your accommodation or another central London location of your choosing.
