Private Amsterdam’s Urban Adventure
Amsterdam is famous for its biking culture and alternative art scene. During this fun 3 hour private bike tour you’ll experience these in a relaxed group setting, with a few extra surprises along the way. With your local guide you’ll go on an Urban Adventure through parts of Amsterdam the average tourist doesn’t see. Passing by beautiful canal houses, colourful street-art, unique architecture (both old and new), centuries old industrial zones and former shipyards - you’ll discover some of the hidden urban gems of Amsterdam.
This bike tour starts near Central Station, which is ideal if you are using public transport as all of the main transport methods have stops there. Once you've been fitted out with a traditional Dutch bike, we will pedal across to the Western part of the city, exploring the 17th Century harbour area of Prinseneiland and the working class neighbourhood of Jordaan. Both of these areas have changed dramatically over the last few decades as the hipsters have moved in gentrified the neighbourhood. Whilst in this area, your guide will introduce you to ‘magnet fishing’. Who knows what you might pull out of the canal!
We will take a short ferry ride across the IJ (eye) to see some of the up-and-coming sights of the former shipyards of Amsterdam North. Here you will see lost cranes, slipways and some of the industrial buildings of NDSM. You may even spot a yellow submarine! This area is also famous for its amazing street art and graffiti. As part of this tour you will have the opportunity to create your own artistic masterpieces on the terrain, as in the north, anything goes, as long as it’s ‘beautiful’.
You’ll learn about Amsterdam’s rich history as well as the unique quirks that make up Amsterdam’s culture. We mix this with the personal stories, observations, and opinions of your local guide. All our guides are personable, knowledgeable, and fun.
