Private Airport Transfer in Costa Rica — San José to Main Destinations

THE ADVENTURE COLLECTIVE® · Independent discovery and booking for outdoor travel

Read the full experience

You step out of Juan Santamaría’s cool terminal air and into a car that already knows the road—the driver sliding into place with a map of the country in their head. The city falls away behind you: narrow valley roads give way to coffee-streaked hills, then to lowland palms or volcanic ridgelines depending on your direction. This private transfer trades the unpredictability of public buses for a measured, scenic progression between San José (SJO) and Costa Rica’s primary destinations.

Pack light and label bagsSpace is limited to a vehicle sized for five passengers; tag luggage to speed loading and prevent mix-ups.

Use courtesy stops wiselyYou get up to 30 minutes for food or bathroom breaks—plan one mid-route stop for longer transfers to stretch and rehydrate.

Expect variable road conditionsRoutes out of the Central Valley can include steep grades and narrow stretches—avoid late-night travel on rural roads when possible.

Recommended gear

Travel documents & printed booking: Have passports, confirmation, and flight details ready for quick verification at pickup.
Reusable water bottle: Stay hydrated during the ride and at any courtesy stops, especially on coastal or lowland routes.
