The Elafiti islands served as stopovers and supply points for Venetian-era traders and later developed small agricultural communities known for olive oil and viticulture.
The islands contain vulnerable Posidonia seagrass meadows; visitors should avoid anchoring on beds, use marked moorings, and minimize single-use plastics.
