The bus eases off the coastal road and the cliffs of Kourtaliotiko Gorge rise sudden and raw — a vertical wall framing the exit where the Grand River meets the Libyan Sea. Walkers step down a footpath of roughly 300 carved stairs, each one counting you closer to warm sand, pebbles and a narrow strip of turquoise that dares you in.
