A cool morning on the Côte d'Or, the road between vine rows pulls you forward like a tide and the driver eases the car into a picture-postcard village. On this private, eight-hour tasting tour from Beaune you move slowly through the greatest names of Burgundy: Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The guide opens cellar doors and pours wines that have been patiently coaxed from limestone and marl soils that shape Pinot Noir and Chardonnay here.

Burgundy’s vineyard map was shaped by medieval monasteries and later parcelled by inheritance, which created the patchwork of tiny, named climats central to its appellation system.
Many domaines practice sustainable or organic viticulture to protect fragile soils and biodiversity; visitors should follow paths and avoid trampling vine rows.
