Dawn hits the glassy skin of Lake Elementaita and the first wings cut the pink light—flamingos tilt like a moving shoreline, pelicans watch like slow boats. Your day begins with a short drive from Nairobi and a hike up the ridge known locally as the Sleeping Warrior; the ridge rises from scrub and volcanic outwash and gives a raw panorama of the Rift Valley below.
