What do we do

Prainha is, as the name implies, a small beach near Ponta de São Lourenço. It has the arid tones of the eastern end of the island and is a beach with black sand, a change from the pebbles that Madeira has accustomed us to.

And it is here, in this rare landscape of black sand that your swimming adventure will begin and where you can be accompanied by exotic shoals of various species, in water that mixes the turquoise tones with a crystalline dark blue, so characteristic of the island.

Adventure Tips

Bring a waterproof sunblock

The open exposed waters and black sand absorb heat, making sun protection essential during swim training.

Use a brightly colored swim cap

This improves visibility in the water for safety when swimming near rocky shorelines and marine traffic.

Stay hydrated before and after your swim

While swimming, you won't feel thirsty; pre- and post-swim hydration is key due to sun and salt exposure.

Wear water shoes to protect your feet

The beach's volcanic rocks can be sharp; protective footwear makes entry and exit safer.
