About This Adventure

Embark on a captivating 2-hour historical tour that celebrates remarkable women who shaped Spain's past. Explore iconic sites like Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace while uncovering the stories of influential figures such as Juana la Beltraneja and Beatriz Galindo. Experience history through the lens of these extraordinary women.

Duration: 2 hours

A historical tour, about historical women, but also about the role of women across time. With their biographies (many of them quite impressive) we can understand how social and economical structures worked and how some of these women broke them all.

What To Expect

We will go through wonderful historical monuments (as Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Villa, or Royal Palace-outside) where we will track some of the most interesting female characters of the history of Spain:

  • Juana la Beltraneja, who was born in Madrid, almost got to be the queen and rule over Spain, but she lost the war against another woman, Isabel, The Catholic Queen, very well known as the queen of Spain who sent Colon to America for the first time.
  • Beatriz Galindo, known as La Latina, was the personal counsellor of Isabel The Catholic Queen. She perfectly spoke Latin and Greek since she was 15 years old. She studied in university (totally uncommon at that time) and got to be one of the most powerful people of her time. An entire neighbourhood - where she lived - has her name.
  • Mariana de Austria. Widow of her uncle Felipe IV, became the regent of Spain, becoming one of the most powerful people on earth.
  • Princess Eboli was one of the closest people to the so call King Planet: Felipe II. After a great conspiracy, she ended up behind bars until her death.
  • Maria de Zayas was one of the best dramaturges in the XVII century. Her texts were forbidden by the inquisition and therefore, forgotten for many centuries. She was an early feminist.
