You step off the marina and the catamaran’s hull cuts a clean line through warm Caribbean water; the sea seems to dare you to slow down. In 20–30 minutes the coastline of Fajardo falls away and you’re surrounded by the flat, white sand of Cayo Icacos or the palm-fringed shore of private Palomino Island. Turquoise water pushes at your ankles; a shallow reef waits where schools of parrotfish and the occasional turtle patrol.
