Our English-speaking tour driver will welcome you at the dock of your ship in Livorno, for this private Pisa and Siena tour.
This excursion includes a brief visit to Pisa to admire “Piazza dei Miracoli” and the famous “Leaning Tower.”
You will drive through the lovely Tuscan countryside to enchanting Siena, one of Italy’s best preserved medieval towns, located in the heart of Tuscany. Siena, built on three hills and surrounded by well-preserved walls, is filled with fine examples of Gothic architecture. You will have all the time to explore the charming little town.
Welcome to Siena! While in Siena, you will be able to walk along the small medieval streets admiring the palaces, the Cathedral and its Baptistery, famous for the beautiful frescoes. And the 13th century Cathedral, Il Duomo, is an architectural beauty with its greenish-black and white bands of colored marble. In the chapel of the left transept is a glass box containing the arm of John the Baptist, said to be the one used to baptize Christ.
Have lunch in one of the typical trattorias! After lunch, you will want to visit the Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in the world. And Fonte Gaia (Fountain of Joy); this piazza is the site of the thrilling horse race (the Palio) held every year.
