Piraeus has been Athens’ principal port since antiquity, later evolving into a 19th–20th century industrial and naval hub that shaped the modern waterfront.
This is active port infrastructure—minimize waste, avoid entering operational zones, and don’t disturb marine life or shorelines; local initiatives encourage keeping quays litter-free.
