This special Picnic Experience is designed to offer you a blend of relaxation and gourmet grazing, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Take your hamper out into the gardens and choose your favourite spot to unwind!

The treats included have been locally sourced where possible, giving you a delightful taste of Central Otago goodness.

Each Picnic Experience fee includes entry tickets for two persons. All additional attendees must pay the standard entry ticket fee (this can be bought separately or added to this booking).

Duration

Recommended: up to 2 hours

Please allow an hour or two to spend at Wānaka Lavender Farm. We would suggest arriving at least by 3pm (we close at 5pm) to join us for your picnic. No rush, take in the atmosphere, savour the flavours on offer, and give yourself time to explore our farm!

September - May: 9am - 5pm June - August: 10am - 5pm CLOSED on Christmas Day (25th December)

Please note that the picnic is not available during the winter months.

What to Expect

Setup & Weather

Collect your picnic from the farm shop on arrival then step outside and find the perfect spot to set yourself up. Our staff are available to offer guidance on popular picnic locations within the farm.

In case of extreme weather, your picnic can be enjoyed in the tearoom, subject to table availability. For your convenience it can also be organised for takeaway (for immediate consumption).

Local Cheeses & Chutneys: Savour a selection of exquisite cheeses and chutneys sourced from local companies that are renowned for exceptional quality and flavour.

Crackers & Oatcakes: Pair your cheeses and chutneys with these delicious, locally-made crackers and oatcakes.

Mixed Nuts: A crunchy and nutritious addition to your picnic, perfect for snacking.

NZ Dried Apple Chips & NZ Dried Apricots: Enjoy the natural sweetness of New Zealand's finest dried fruits.

Wānaka Lavender Farm Chocolate Truffles: Indulge in decadent dark chocolate truffles infused with the unique flavour of lavender.

White Rabbit Cake Lavender Macarons: Treat yourself to these popular macarons that offer a perfect blend of sweetness and lavender aroma.

Drinks: Enjoy two refreshing, non-alcoholic beverages to quench your thirst (contains not more than 0.5% alcohol/volume. If you are under 18 or require an alternative drink, our staff will be happy to provide a replacement).

Your Picnic Experience includes entry for two into the Wānaka Lavender Farm. Explore our beautiful gardens, immerse yourself in the calming aroma of lavender, and discover all the charming elements our farm has to offer, from our friendly resident animals to our farm shop filled with handmade lavender products.

Four Distinct Seasons

Each season at the farm offers a unique experience. From December to March during summer, the farm is full of blooms, with the lavender flowering season taking centre stage. From April to November, the gardens continually evolve — autumn showcases rich colours, winter offers serene landscapes and spring brings fresh blossoms. All with year-round activities and stunning backdrops. Please note that the picnic is not available during winter months.
