A speed-boat cuts through early light as Phu Quoc’s southern islets peel into view—sheets of turquoise punctuated by white sand and low, scrubby headlands. You step onto Gam Ghi’s reef edge and the sea seems to reach up, daring you into a world of branching coral and quicksilver fish. Later the cable car sweeps you over open ocean to Hon Thom, the island’s slope shrinking beneath the glass gondola while the sea spreads wider than the road back on the main island.
