At Wānaka Lavender Farm, we're delighted to welcome photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, to capture the mesmerising beauty of our lavender farm.

Please read the guidelines below to ensure the best experience for all when booking a photoshoot or a video shoot at the farm. This is a permit and the securing of a time slot only, a camera operator is not provided by Wānaka Lavender Farm.

Photography Fee for Professional Shoots

Professional photographers, filmmakers, and those conducting shoots for commercial, promotional, advertising, or resale purposes are required to book their sessions in advance and pay a photography fee.

Determining Professional Shoots

We consider special occasion photos (e.g. engagement and wedding photography), family portraits, landscape, library photography, and any other commercial photography to be professional. If you're unsure if your shoot falls into this category, please reach out to us.

Commercial Photography/Filming

Catalogue shoots, shoots requiring props, additional lighting or multiple costumes, commercials, professional videos and the like are subject to certain terms, restrictions, and fees based upon the nature of the production request. Please contact us for more information.

Fee is per photographer/filmer

A maximum of two photographers/filmers can book each daytime session. Each photographer/filmer must book permits separately if multiple photographers/filmers will attend the session. All other attendees must pay the standard entry fee (this can be bought separately or added to this booking).

Four Distinct Seasons

Each season at the farm offers a unique experience. From December to March during summer, the farm is full of blooms, with the lavender flowering season taking centre stage. From April to November, the gardens continually evolve — autumn showcases rich colours, winter offers serene landscapes and spring brings fresh blossoms. All with year-round activities and stunning backdrops.

Book Your Session in Advance

Professional and commercial shoots require pre-booking to secure your time slot—walk-ins are not accepted.

Stay on Designated Paths

Respect the lavender and gardens by avoiding stepping on flower beds to preserve the farm’s health and beauty.

No Drones Allowed

Drones are prohibited at the farm, even with a permit, to maintain safety and minimize disturbances.

Maximum Two Photographers per Session

Ensure your group size complies to avoid overcrowding and interruptions during your shoot.
