You step off the boat and the air changes—sharp, cold, and dry—while a cathedral of blue rises ahead, ridged and fractured like the hull of a sleeping ship. For an hour you move across that ship: crampons biting, guides pointing out crevasses that look like rivers frozen mid-flow, the glacier’s surface a mosaic of hummocks, caves and sapphire pools.

The guided minitrek on the ice lasts about one hour; total excursion including transfers and boat crossings takes roughly 6–10 hours.
No—guides provide crampons and a safety briefing; basic balance and willingness to follow instructions are sufficient.
The operator restricts participation (typically minimum age around 8 and upper age/health limits); travelers with cardiovascular or mobility issues should not attempt the trek.
Per the operator’s cancellation policy you can cancel for a full refund at least 24 hours before; tours may proceed in cold wind and light snow but severe conditions could alter plans.
Perito Moreno is part of Los Glaciares National Park, created in 1937; the glacier is an outlet of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and is notable for periodic advances and calving events.
Stay on marked trails and follow guides—ice and shoreline habitats are fragile; leaving no trace helps preserve lichens, forest understory and water quality.
