History

Pearl Harbor was a strategic Pacific base long before 1941; the Arizona remains a submerged memorial to the sailors and Marines who died in the attack, while USS Missouri marks the formal end of WWII.

Conservation

The National Park Service and Navy manage access to protect cultural resources—stay on designated paths, do not remove artifacts, and follow posted rules to preserve the memorial.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Support and traction for museum floors, docks and ship decks.
Reusable water bottle: Keeps you hydrated during long exhibits and while waiting for boat departures.
