The kayak slips from the sand and the harbor's hum thins until only the slap of paddle and the mangrove air remain. You push off from Pontal Beach and head past two small islets, the hull cutting glassy water that reflects high green canopies. The guide keeps a steady rhythm; birds flare, crabs scuttle among roots, and the channel narrows into a living tunnel where light comes through in bands.
