The trail begins where the city gives way to spruce and beech: a narrow road, packed earth underfoot, and the forest taking on the steady rhythm of footfalls. Umbrella pines—Parapluie trees—lean over the path like hands guiding you upward, and the city’s chimneys shrink behind the shoulder of the woods until only a line of spires glints through the canopy.
