On a clear morning the valley opens beneath you: a checkerboard of green fields gives way to the dense ribbon of the city, the Aburrá Valley spreading like a living map. Riders meet at a central pickup, then climb by air-conditioned van toward San Félix, where a grassy launch strip perches on a hill that looks out over Medellín’s rooftops and surrounding slopes.
moderate.
4 hours (total); ~15 minutes airtime.
Basic mobility required — able to walk a short distance on uneven ground and follow pilot instructions; suitable for most fitness levels
The airborne portion is about 15 minutes; the full experience including transport, briefing and media delivery is approximately four hours.
No prior experience is required—the pilot handles all flying; passengers need only follow safety instructions and be able to run a few steps at launch/landing if asked.
Flights are weather-dependent and may be canceled for safety; operators typically offer a full refund if canceled at least 24 hours before departure or will reschedule when possible.
Operators collect age and health information at booking and may exclude participants with serious cardiovascular issues or limited mobility—disclose conditions in advance to confirm eligibility.
Antioquia’s hills were shaped by agriculture and mining; the valley’s settlements grew into Medellín, whose urban expansion is visible from the air.
Respect landing zones and avoid littering; choose operators who follow local airspace rules and minimize disturbance to birds and hillside vegetation.
BiciTour Medellin operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
