You step onto warm sand at Palmilla Bay and the ocean answers in glassy, waist-deep blue — calm enough to stand, wide enough to look out and breathe. Instructors gather gear on the shoreline, run a quick safety briefing on the sand and hand you a paddle; the board rocks gently as you climb aboard and the bay seems to hold you up.
