Reserve the whole studio for your next celebration with In Studio Private Event — a three-hour, all-ages painting party at Shop 1/55 Holt St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia. This is a private rental of the studio's creative space where groups of ten or more take over the room to paint, laugh, and leave with their own canvases. The format mirrors public sessions but with extras clear from the moment you book: tables for display, glassware, water and a fridge are on hand, and you’re welcome to BYO food and drinks to match the mood of your gathering.
The experience centers on guided painting—pick any artwork from the studio’s catalogue and an instructor walks your group through composition, color mixing, and finishing touches. The studio’s lighting and open layout make it simple for everyone, from a first-time painter to an experienced hobbyist, to follow along without crowding. Private sessions generally run two to three hours, and the host can request small adjustments to start and end times with advance notice; evening events are possible but may carry a higher minimum headcount.
What sets this activity apart in Surry Hills is its blend of urban convenience and focused creativity. The studio occupies a shopfront on a lively street, making it easy for guests staying in central Sydney to arrive and continue the night at nearby cafes and bars. The practical perks—fridge, display tables, glassware—mean organizers spend less time improvising and more time enjoying the gathering. A commissioned painting can be arranged for an extra fee, a great option for commemorating milestones or corporate branding.
Families, hen parties, corporate teams, and friend groups will find the format flexible: the set-up accommodates decorations, playlists and food, while instructors manage art materials and the creative flow. Because private events require a minimum of ten paid seats, plan your guest list accordingly and book early to secure preferred dates and times.
Located in Surry Hills, an inner-city suburb that evolved from 19th-century working neighborhoods into one of Sydney’s most energetic creative quarters, the studio sits among cafes, design stores, and laneways that reward exploration before or after your session. For organizers, note that private events are priced per person with a minimum of 10 paid seats; confirm arrival details at the meeting point: Shop 1/55 Holt St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia. Early booking secures instructors and preferred artworks and materials.
All ages welcome for private events, making this a inclusive option for mixed-age groups. Note that evening bookings require more advance notice and sometimes a higher minimum; contact the studio directly to confirm. Bring decorations and any specialty serving gear you need—the studio provides basic glassware, water and a fridge but not catering supplies.
