This one-day PADI ReActivate is a focused tune-up for certified divers returning to the water after a break. Tenerife’s coast is volcanic basalt and old lava flows that created pockets of reef and small walls; local dive culture grew from fishing villages that turned to guiding as tourism expanded in the late 20th century. Expect to revisit basic theory, check gear and run through confined-water skills before moving to a short open-water check dive under instructor supervision.
Practical guidance: the course runs about four hours with an instructor, includes gear, learning materials and diving insurance. You must be a certified diver and in reasonable health; the operator advises against participation for pregnant travelers and people with certain spinal or cardiovascular conditions. Visibility in Tenerife typically ranges from 10–30m depending on site and season; water temps average 18–25°C, so a 5mm suit or shorty is common. Bring your certification card or logbook, a light towel, and antihistamine if you react to wetsuits.
The ReActivate won’t retrain you from zero, but it will polish buoyancy, emergency procedures and confidence so you can rejoin guided dives with solid, safe skills. Check local transit to the marina and avoid flying within 12 hours after diving.
