A pre-dawn boat slips out from Playa del Carmen and the sea opens into green-blue distance. The air tastes of salt and diesel; the instructor counts gear while the reef waits below, patient and ancient. Over two focused days you trade surface rhythms for the slow, deliberate movement of diving — classroom modules, pool skill work in the morning, and four ocean dives in the afternoons to practice what you learn.

Suitable for people in good general health with basic swimming ability; expect moderate exertion during pool sessions and surface swims.
No prior scuba experience is required; you must be comfortable swimming and complete online theory before in-water sessions.
Standard Open Water requires a minimum age of 15; a Junior Open Water option is available for students aged 10–14.
Open Water certification limits recreational dives to 18 meters (60 feet) when diving with a buddy.
After successful completion of theory, confined-water skills, and the four open water dives, you’ll receive a PADI certificate and logbook entries; digital recognition may be immediate with PADI processing.
