Exploration, Excitement, Experiences. That’s what the PADI Advanced Open Water course with Sea Spirit Diving Resort in Sicily, Italy is all about. Improve your diving skills and discover the countless possibilities when it comes to different dive specialties.
The PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) Course gives you the chance to improve your dive skills and learn more about different aspects of diving under the supervision of a PADI Dive Instructor. On top of all the benefits, it will also give you a certification valid to a depth of 30 meters.
The course includes 5 dives, and during each you will focus on a specific aspect of diving. There are 16 different specialties you can choose from in the PADI Advanced Open Water Course. There are 2 dives mandatory dives that must be completed be an Advanced Open Water Diver: the Deep dive (between 18 and 30 meters) and underwater navigation. These two dives will teach you how to plan a dive to 30 meters, the practical aspects of deep diving, and underwater compass skills so you will have a better idea how to navigate during a dive and orientate yourself under water. The other 3 dives you will choose together with your dive instructor. You could try: night diving, peak performance buoyancy, and many more.
This course involves self-study and completion of knowledge reviews from the ‘Adventures in Diving Manual’ or E-learning for the dives you have chosen. Before each dive, your Instructor will cover the theory from the book in the briefing.
• You have to be a PADI Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization) • Minimum age is 15 years old (12 years olds for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver course) • Required dives: Deep Dive (between 18-30 meters) and Navigation Dive • Possible dives: Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive, Naturalist Dive, Search and Recovery Dive, Night Dive, Digital Underwater Imaging (selected together with instructor)
Day 1 08.00am. We gather at our Dive Resort situated at the Hotel Naxos Beach (Giardini-Naxos) where we will welcome you with tea and coffee, arrange registration, paperwork and prepare all dive equipment you need for the course. *09.00am.*We will leave with our boats to the Isola Bella Marine Park in Taormina where we will do 2 dives. During the navigation we tell you all the stories about the area and show you the Marine Park and the Blue Cave. The transfer from our resort to the harbour in Giardini-Naxos is included. 09.30am. Advanced Open Water Dive 1 (with the required skills of the dive) 11.00am. Between the dives we will have a nice break next to Isola Bella which offers us a beautiful view of this marvelous island (sea conditions permitted). During the break we offer a selection of fresh fruit, iced tea and water. There is also the possibility to go to the toilet. 11.30pm. Advanced Open Water Dive 2 (with the required skills of the dive) 12.30pm. After diving, we offer a tasteful Sicilian wine and almond biscuits on board. We also have relaxing music on board and our crew will create a nice atmosphere. 01.00pm. Returning to harbor and office, washing equipment and arranging for next day.
Day 2 08.30am. We gather at the Dive Resort to prepare dive equipment. *09.00am.*We will leave with our boats to the Isola Bella Marine Park in Taormina where we will do 2 dives. Advanced Open Water Dive 5 is the third dive of the day with 2 possibilities:
Theory Before final certification, the knowledge reviews of each chapter of each dive (in total 5) must be completed in the PADI Advanced Open Water Manual Online.
A dive computer is essential to monitor depth and bottom time, especially during deep dives to 30 meters.
Sea conditions can affect boat transfers to Isola Bella; confirm daily with your instructor before heading out.
Diving can lead to dehydration—drink water before and after your dives to stay well-hydrated.
If participating in the night dive, ensure you bring appropriate lighting and follow instructor guidance closely.
