Lagoa, located in Portugal’s sun-drenched Algarve region, offers one of the most compelling coastal journeys in Europe with its dramatic cliffs, golden beaches, and crystalline waters. Among its natural marvels, the Benagil Cave stands out as an extraordinary sea cave accessible primarily by water. BrotheRootz - SUP Tours invites paddlers of all levels to meet the Atlantic swell on a two-hour small group paddle boarding adventure that begins at Carvalho’s beach and culminates at this iconic cave.
The Benagil Cave’s limestone cliffs have been sculpted over millennia by relentless waves, carving a cavern crowned with a natural skylight that reveals sunrays filtering down to illuminate the cave’s sandy floor. This geological artwork, framed by swirling turquoise waters, is arguably the Algarve coastline’s most photographed natural attraction. Paddle boarding here offers a unique vantage point—gliding silently over the ocean surface, you gain an intimate sense of the scale and raw power that formed this marvel.
What separates BrotheRootz from typical coastal tours is their genuine local expertise and commitment to eco-friendly practices. Beginning at the relatively quiet Carvalho beach, participants receive hands-on guidance and safety instruction designed to accommodate beginners while keeping experienced paddlers engaged. The small group size ensures personalized attention, fostering a relaxed and supportive environment. Bonus 4K photos captured throughout the trip allow you to bring the memories safely ashore without distraction.
This experience is not just about the destination but the journey itself—paddling past rugged cliffs, spotting seabirds like terns and ospreys overhead, and feeling the Atlantic breeze freshly off the ocean. It’s an invigorating way to connect with the Algarve’s natural heritage while maintaining a low environmental footprint, encouraging respect for this protected coastal zone. Whether you’re seeking a serene outdoor challenge or a standout addition to your Portugal itinerary, BrotheRootz’s paddle boarding tour strikes a perfect balance of adventure, accessibility, and authentic coastal immersion.
