Pack the Car, Not the Gear - 3 Day Rentals for Ottawa Canoe & Kayak Adventures

Three-day stretches of sun on the water have a way of rearranging priorities. In Ottawa, Ontario, 3 Day Rentals offers simple, low-friction access to paddling trips by renting canoes and kayaks with everything you need for multi-day outings. Based in Ottawa and servicing the Ottawa Valley, this rental package is aimed at families and small groups who want to plan long weekend adventures without hauling gear at home. The rental includes paddling-specific PFDs, throw lines, bailers, pealess whistles cleaned after every use, and a compact legal safety kit; tie-down foam blocks and camlock straps let you transport boats without damaging them - ratchet straps are not permitted.

Pick-up and drop-off windows are precise: weekdays 10:00-16:30, weekends 12:00-15:45, and weekend rentals may be picked up after 15:00 on Friday. Returns are due by 16:30 on weekdays and 15:40 on weekends. Late returns after 17:00 incur a $65 plus HST fee; equipment left after hours risks a $250 charge and the renter remains liable for safety and return. Clean your boat before you hand it back to avoid a minimum $60 cleaning fee. For long weekends, bookings are a minimum of three days, enforced to keep inventory available and fair.

What sets this rental apart is attention to paddling comfort and legal compliance. Their PFDs are chosen for paddling ergonomics rather than bulky boating vests, throw lines are rated for rescue, and the inclusion of handles and proper bailers means you're ready for practical on-water scenarios. The shop supplies stabilized whistles and clear instructions on Coast Guard safety requirements: carry an approved PFD per person, 15 metres of buoyant heaving line, a paddle, and a bailer or pump; waterproof light-signalling devices are legally required but currently not included, so bring one at night.

Plan for flexible routes on nearby waterways, reconnaissance of launch sites, and transport that fits your vehicle - the company's foam blocks adapt to racks or bare roofs without scratching hulls. Families will appreciate the sterilized small items and the clear policy that keeps equipment clean, safe, and ready for the next paddlers. Whether you're building a first multiday excursion or staging a short family getaway, this three-day rental option delivers practical gear, local know-how, and predictable logistics so you can spend more time on the water and less on preparation.

Ask staff about loading techniques, vehicle roof clearance, and local launch etiquette before you leave; staff knowledge can shave hours off trial-and-error. Insurance, emergency contacts, and a simple float plan are smart for any multi-day paddle. If you need a light for night travel, bring a waterproof headlamp or waterproof flashlight - these are not included. Book early for long weekends to secure the right boat and pickup time today.
