Sightings aren’t guaranteed—animals roam widely—but guided treks into active feeding areas and quiet, patient observation increase your chance of seeing wild orangutans in the canopy.
You’ll spend nights in a simple guesthouse in Ketambe and one night at a basic riverside jungle camp with tents, mats and blankets; amenities are rustic and electricity is limited.
Most travelers start in Medan and travel by private transfer or arranged vehicle—approximately a 6–8 hour drive depending on road conditions; the tour often includes pick-up from Medan.
