No Experience Required

The day begins with a dusty jeep ride out of Dahab as the Gulf of Aqaba spreads silver to the east and the desert unfurls behind you. At the Blue Hole, the sea pulls into a perfectly round, impossibly deep well; the water dares you to look down, then rewards you for looking in with bands of coral and darting reef fish. By afternoon a short boat run slides you along the shoreline to Ras Abu Gallum, where an isolated beach camp and nighttime sky feel deliberately far from the town’s lights.
