A late-afternoon wind pushes warm sand across the crest of Erg Chebbi as you climb onto a camel and fall into a slow, rhythmic sway. The caravan threads between high, orange dunes; the horizon thins to a single band of gold as the sun slides down. By the time you reach the private luxury tent, dusk has cooled the ridgelines and the camp’s lanterns pick out the curves of the sand.
